Workplace Learning Coordinators

As part of the National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions, the Victorian Government has initiated the Workplace Learning Coordinator program to encourage young people to spend some time in workplaces.  The program has several aims:

  • To increase the numbers of young people undertaking workplace learning placements in places of employment, especially in industries that provide strong vocational outcomes for students;
  • To increase the alignment between vocational education and training (VET) provision and local industry needs; and
  • To increase the number of Koorie young people undertaking workplace learning placements

The Program will identify, facilitate and coordinate workplace learning placements in Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and work experience for young people aged between 15 and 19 years.

GRVEC is the Workplace Learning Coordinator for the Geelong region and has developed a web portal to facilitate placement opportunities.  This is available for schools and ACE providers to access via the Placement Web Portal tab. Through this portal, schools and students can search for opportunities that match their career interest area and apply for those positions through an online application process.   Visit our Placement Web Portal to see what placement opportunities are available right now!

Employers interested in participating in the the program can contact Bec or Kylie at GRVEC.  Or download a 2011 Employer Availability Form and tell us how you want to be involved.
